Learning Objectives
- Identify the characteristics of body dysmorphia.
- Understand how disordered eating affects those suffering with it.
- Recognize the appropriate resources available for disordered eating.
- Plan how and when to speak to clients who might have disordered eating.
- Develop a toolkit for helping clients plan the right goals that will fit within the special needs of those with disordered eating
One of the most challenging positions for a client to be in is seeking personal training while dealing with body image issues. This is especially concerning — and potentially life threatening — when it comes to eating disorders. For this reason, it’s essential that fitness professionals be educated on issues related to disordered eating and body dysmorphia so that they can know both what to avoid in conversations with clients as well as how to identify warning signs.
This way, you can refer clients to appropriate medical services. In this course, you will learn about the main types of eating disorders, the types of things to avoid with these clients, resources to direct your clients for help, and much more.
Sometimes can work great with intuitive training.
